I'm sure there are local communities that you can attend that will open you up to new relationships and such, but in some places, it's easier said than done. Personally, I never tried to make friends who are interested in artistic endeavors like I am. No matter what interests you have, there is a possibility to make some friends along the way. The best example is probably mexican painter Frida Kahlo : she had serious spinal cord injuries due to polio and an accident and was bedridden for years, but she was able to paint from her bed and got a succesful career that lead her around the world. On the other hand, some artist had been able to have great art career despite serious disabilitites. Outside of cosplay, painting or drawing can be very good if you have some disabilities, depending what they are, but it's just maybe not the best way to make new contacts IMO. Regarding injuries, i have seen people in wheelchair or with walkers doing cosplay and often integrating it in their design at conventions.

Building a costume does take time and i wanted to find projects that were shorter and would be easier to fit with my job and schedule. It's just that when lockdown happened, i turned my focus from cosplay to cosplay makeup and showing it on social media. If you like taking pictures of people or filming them, generally cosplayers love to be a model and are easier to approach.Īnd if you are curious, yes i did cosplay for a while, at least 4 costumes. In both cases, they often shoot during conventions, but sometime, they also invite cosplayers from convention to do a shooting in a studio. Showcasing cosplayers : mostly photographers and video editors. A lot of those also link to other forms of art : you often have to paint on fabric or to paint the props (generally with acrylics) you are making with foam and plastic. Being a cosplayer : The man form of art realated to cosplay are sewing, sculpting (mostly building armors made out of foam and/or thermoplastics like worbla) and makeup, like special effects makeup. There is two main way to approach art with cosplay I made friends by doing cosplay masquerades (contests). If you look in the cosplay community, it may be easier to make friend, often by meeting people at convention or sometime in some cosplay workshops. There is other forms of art that can help to get in touch with people and make friend. If you take in persone classes, then maybe it can be easier, but i don't think art is the best way to get social, especially in real life Most of the time, when you paint or draw, you do it alone, so it's a little bit hard to make friend.
